Now I am in Melbourne and full on in the everyday life. But before I report about that, I want to turn back the wheel of time to tell you about my last weeks in south east asia.
After Siem Reap and Phnom Penh I had enough culture and it was time to do nothing again. Therefore the south of Cambodia is pretty good. :D So Kathrin and I took the bus to Sihanoukville. This is the pivotal point when you want to go to the islands of the south of Cambodia. We first made our way to Otres Beach I. The Otres Beach is separated in Otres I which is the northern part and Otres II in the south. Connected are booth true a four KM beautiful white beach. Our first accommodation was the Everythang guesthouse. After a couple of days we went to Koh Rong Sanluem, one of the beautiful islands. Here we stood for four days and returned to the mainland to go to Kampot. As the Champagne is known for the champagne, Kampot is known for the kampot pepper - the best pepper in the world! As beginner you will recognize it through the real red pepper corns, as we have mostly the berries in the mixes in Germany for example. Afterwards we went back to the Everythang, our home base in this time. Just see it yourself. :)
(Background information: The hole area which is outstanding with all the small resorts will soon get smashed down to build something like a big casino complex on it. So the owners here get there contracts only extended for a view month. This causes in the fact that only the urgent needed is done. But still the atmosphere here is really dreamlike!)
Leicht hat mans nicht, aber leicht hats einen. So bin ich hier in Melbourne wieder voll im Alltag gelandet. Doch bevor ich davon berichte, möchte ich das Rad der Zeit noch einmal zurück drehen und von den letzten schönen Wochen in Südostasien erzählen.
Nachdem in Siem Reap und Phnom Penh genug Kultur angesehen wurde, freuten wir uns schon darauf mal wieder nichts zu tun. Dafür eignet sich der Süden Kambodschas unheimlich gut. So fuhren Kathrin und ich nach Sihanoukville. Dies ist der Dreh und Angelpunkt, wenn man auf die Inseln weiter möchte. Wir sind erstmal weiter auf dem Festland zum Otres Beach. Dieser teilt sich auf in Otres I im Norden und Otres II im Süden. Verbunden sind die beiden Strandabschnitte durch einen Part in dem einfach nichts ist, außer schönem weißem Strand. Unsere erste Unterkunft war das Everythang Guesthouse.
Nach ein paar Tagen hier ging es nach Koh Rong Samluen, eine der schönen Inseln. Hier blieben wir für vier Tage und kamen dan zurück aufs Festland um nach Kampot zu fahren. Wie die Champagne für ihren Champagner bekannt ist, ist Kampot für seinen Kampot Pfeffer bekannt. Hier gibt es den besten Pfeffer der Welt! Als Leihe erkennt man diesen daran, dass die roten Körner, echte Körner und keine Beeren sind, wie bei uns in den Mischungen. Anschließend kamen wir wieder zurück ins Everythang Guesthouse unsere Home Base in dieser Zeit. Doch seht selbst. :)
(Hintergrund Information: Die ganze Region die sich durch hauptsächlich kleinere Resorts und Bungalows auszeichnet soll bald einer riesigen Casino-Landschaft weichen. So bekommen die verschiedenen Besitzer hier immer nur monatsweise ihre Verlängerungen. Leider führt es dazu, dass in den Guesthäusern zum Teil nur noch das nötigste gemacht wird, doch ist die Atmosphäre wirklich traumhaft!)

Zurück in Shihanoukville traf ich noch einen Freund von zuhause. Briny ist ebenfalls am Reisen durch Südostasien, nachdem sie ein Jahr in Australien war. Schön dich gesehen zu haben. :)
Arrived in Kampot we found a nice accommodation in the Monkey Republic Guesthouse. Fair prices, very cheap beer and a nice flair. At the opposite of the road we booked a tour for the next day with SEVEN stops! Salt fields, a fisher village, caves, a secret lake, a pepper farm, the crab market and the final destination at the beach in Kep.
Angekommen in Kampot fanden wir eine schöne Unterkunft im Monkey Republic Guesthouse. Faire Preise, sehr günstiges Bier und ein netter Flair. Auf der Gegenüberliegenden Seite buchten wir so gleich eine Tour für den nächsten Tag mit SIEBEN Stops! Salz Felder, ein Fischerdorf, Höhlen, ein geheimer See, eine Führung auf der Pfefferfarm, Essen auf dem Krabbenmarkt und zu guter letzt ging es zum Strand in Kep.

In the fisher village. Yeah not all the destinations where the pure highlight, but as it was not made artificial longer than it had to be it was a very nice tour. (so at this place we spend like 15 minutes) :)

From Kampot we made a little hope to the Monkey Maya, a litte Resort in the nowhere of Cambodia. No Wifi, electricity only for dedicated hours a day. So we enjoyed ourself. :)
Von Kampot machten wir einen kleinen Abstecher zum Monkey Maya, ein kleines Resort mitten im Nirgendwo Kambodschas. Kein Wifi, Elektrizität nur für bestimmte Stunden am Tag. So mussten wir uns selbst genießen. :)

This is how it looks to be alone again. :P Tim left, a day later Kathrin left and I was on my own again. Nice that you visited me Kathrin, we had an adventures time! :) Already in Thailand and also during our stay in the south of Cambodia from time to time I heard about a little island. The people where really fascinated about it. But when you asked them - what to expect and what it is about, they just said "Hm... basically there is nothing?!"... and you just thought "okaaay?!"... but while they told you about this nothing you could see in their faces a peaceful happiness that told me there is something special about it... So I went to Koh Ta Kiev.
So sieht es aus, wenn man wieder alleine ist. :P Tim ging, einen Tag später auch Kathrin und ich war wieder solo unterwegs. Schön das Du da warst Kathrin wir hatten eine erlebnisreiche Zeit! :) Schon in Thailand wie auch in Kambodscha hörte ich hier und da mal etwas von einer kleinen Insel. Die Leute waren sehr fasziniert davon. So ein toller Ort! Doch wenn du sie fragtest, was man dort so erwarten sollte und wie es dort ist, sagten sie nur "Hm... also im Grunde ist dort einfach nichts?!" ... und man dachte sich nur "Okaaay?!"... aber während sie dir von diesem nichts erzählten, konntest du wenn du genau hinsahst eine sehr friedliche Zufriedenheit in ihren Gesichtern sehen und ein kurzes Funkeln in den Augen. So hatte ich das Gefühl, dass es etwas besondere an diesem Ort geben muss... So machte ich mich auf nach Koh Ta Kiev.

So how is it, to live in this "nothing"?!
The people here talk to each other. Also they listen. Nobody starts during a conversation to put the smartphone on the table and check something while he mimes to be interested in what you are saying. If you live in the Coral Beach Resort (or the Kactus) you have three times a day where food is served. Breakfast is in the morning hours, lunch and dinner is to fixed times. Yes when you are hungry it could be annoying, but in an emergency you can go to the neighbors that serve you all day. On the other side it is such a nice thing to have the two meals at the same time with all people together. So everybody comes, no smartphones on the table, just eat, talk and enjoy each other like a family. This seems to be a small thing, but it is a big part of the experience on Koh Ta Kiev. :)
Wie ist es in diesem "nichts"?!
Die Menschen reden miteinander. Auch hören sie zu. Niemand beginnt während einer Unterhaltung sein Smartphone auszupacken, während er so tut als wäre er interessiert an Eurer Unterhaltung. Wenn du im Coral Beach Resort (oder im Kactus) lebst, wird dreimal am Tag Essen serviert. Das Frühstück in den Morgenstunden, Mittagessen und Abendessen zu einer fixen Zeit. Ja wenn man hungrig ist, kann es nervig sein, doch kann man bei den Nachbarn zur not jeder Zeit etwas essen. ABER es ist so eine schöne Sache, dass alle Leute zusammen Essen, kein Smartphone auf dem Tisch, einfach Essen und die Gesellschaft der anderen genießen wie eine Familie. Das scheint eine Kleinigkeit doch spielt denke ich einen großen Teil in der Erfahrung auf Koh Ta Kiev. :)
Here you see a raft which is on a long string that is fixed at land an in the ocean. So you can go out to swim in the lighting plankton without the danger of stepping in a sea urchin. Made us a looooot of fun! :D
Hier seht ihr ein Floss das mit einem langen Seil welches an Land und im Meer befestigt ist. So kann man nachts raus paddeln um im leuchtenden Plankton zu spielen, ohne die Gefahr auf einen Seeigel zu treten. Brachte uns eine Menge Spass! :D
Beside the bungalows you can also sleep in a hammock for only 5 Dollars a night. :)
Neben den Bungalows kann man auch in den Hängematten für nur 5 Dollar die Nacht schlafen. :)

This was my bungalow. Non of the bungalows had doors. Inside you had a safety box to look your worthy belongings. But nobody stole here, so a really nice environment. :)

This night we had a party at the Kaktus! The bar at the Coral Beach was closed for the night and the owner Mika organized a boat to bring all the people from the Coral Beach Resort to the Kaktus to join the party easily. So everybody was coming to celebrate together. First we had dinner, live music and than I played a 10 hour dj set. What an amazing night!!!! Mika was so amazed from my music that I could stay as long as I want for free. This included free food and drinks. So in the end I overstayed my Cambodia visa for four days as we had such a nice time! Thanks for everybody who made it to it! :D
Diese Nacht hatten wir eine Party im Kaktus! Die Bar im Coral Beach wurde für die Nacht geschlossen und Mika, der Besitzer, hat ein Boot organisiert um die Leute vom Coral Beach zum Kaktus hoch zu fahren. So sind alle Leute hoch gekommen um gemeinsam zu feiern! Erst gab es Abendessen, dann live Musik und im Anschluss habe ich ein 10 Stunden DJ Set gespielt. Was für eine grandiose Nacht!!!! Mika war so angetan von der Musik, dass ich von nun an kostenfrei so lange bleiben konnte wie ich mochte! Essen und Getränke inklusive! So überzog ich mein Kambodscha Visum für vier Tage weil wir eine so geile Zeit hatten! Dank dafür an alle die sie dazu gemacht haben! :D

After Koh Ta Kiev I made my way on the footprints of Julian. So I went to Hoi An to get some suits. Here a picture of Duog and Jade in Kimmy's Tailor. A place where Julian worked four years ago whilst he was traveling through South East Asia. Kimmy's is known to be the best tailor in the city (at Tripadvisor) and the suits Julian was getting there long time ago are still in a good shape today. So I was getting some for us. I had to stay four days in the city until everything was done. But Hoi An is nice, calm, directly at the beach and with some rivers that go through it. The flair is a little bit like I would imagine it to be in Italy. Specially when you walk through the old part of the city. In the middle there is a marked where I found the best and most authentic vietnamese food.
Nach Koh Ta Kiev ging es für mich auf Julians Fußspuren weiter nach Hoi An. Hier ein Bild von Duog and Jade in Kimmy's Schneider. Ein Ort an dem Julian vor vier Jahren auf seiner Reise durch Südostasien arbeitete. Bekannt als der beste Schneider in der Stadt (Tripadvisor) sind Julians Anzüge die er dort vor langer Zeit machen ließ noch in super Zustand. So ließ ich hier ein paar für uns machen. Ich musste vier Tage in der Stadt bleiben bis alles fertig war. Der Flair in Hoi An ist ein bisschen wie ich es mir in Italien vorstellen würde. Besonders wenn man durch die Altstadt läuft. In der Mitte der Altstadt befindet sich eine Markthalle. Hier habe ich das beste und meist authentischste vietnamesische Essen bekommen.

Hehe here a guy sold swimming candles. A group of people bouth everybody one and the wind blow all of them under the beton, so nobody could see his candle any more. When everything was ready, Julians suits where send by post I traveled back to Bangkok to get my flight to Melbourne. All in all it took one week sitting in the bus. An iron butt and my patience is trained. You just stop asking when the bus will arrive and just kept on reading, sleeping or talking with people. Here is the key in my opinion just to stop wait active. :)
Als alles fertig und die Anzüge für Julian verschickt waren ging es auch schon zurück nach Bangkok um meinen Flug nach Melbourne zu bekommen. Das ganze hat dann ca. eine Woche im Bus sitzen gekostet. Sitzfleisch und Geduld sind trainiert. Man hat schon gar nicht mehr gefragt, wann man eigentlich ankommt und einfach gelesen, geschlafen oder sich unterhalten. Hier ist der Schlüssel für mich einfach nicht mehr aktiv zu "warten". :)

After some days in Siem Reap and some in Bangkok, I finally made my way to Melbourne again. First I found a place at Chris nice house. We where neighbors at the Rainbow Serpent Festival and he offered me a place at his home! Thanks for that Chris! :)
Afterwards I could live at Sina's and Adrians home again. I supported them with doing the dishes and walking the dog, could get myself a bit sorted. I explored the different parts of the city and found a nice hostel for the next month. The Collingwood Backpackers. 170$ a week for a bed in a double room. Not to bad. :)
Nach ein paar Tagen in Siem Reap und Bangkok fand ich schließlich meinen Weg nach Melbourne. Hier kam ich glücklicherweise erstmal wieder bei Sina und Adrian unter. So konnte ich mich ein wenig sortieren und unterstützte indem ich mit dem Hund ging und den Abwasch machte.
Ich erkundete die verschiedenen Stadtteile und fand ein schönes Hostel für den nächsten Monat. Das Collingwood Backpackers. 170$ die Woche. Nicht schlecht. :)

Little story: One day I went with Buddha for a walk and went into the bank. While we where standing in the cue inside of the bank Buddha looked at me with a similar face like in the picture and got in his "shit-position". I started to jell "NO NOT HERE!" and pulled him out of the building. Everything was okay. *puh* Then it was my turn in the queue and I was sitting with him at the desc of the bank employee. I heard a little *pfffft* from Buddha and he made one of his famous dog farts. The whole bank was stinking and everybody in the room was holding the hand over the nose. Buddha and I looked at each other and left the building.
Eine kleine off Story: Einen Tag ging ich mit Buddha spazieren und ging in eine Bank. Während wir in der Schlange standen schaute mich Buddha mit einem ähnlichen Blick wie auf obigem Bild an und fing an sich in seine "Kack-Position" zu begeben. Ich fing an zu schreien "NEIN NICHT HIER!!!" und zog den großen Hund aus der Bank. Alles noch mal gut gegangen. *puh* Dann war ich an der reihe und saß gegenüber der Bankangestellten. Ich hörte ein leises *pffft* aus Buddhas Richtung kommen und er ließ einen seiner berüchtigten Hundefurze. Die gesamte Bank stank und jeder im Raum hielt sich die Hand vor die Nase. Buddha und ich schauten uns an und verließen das Gebäude.

This is Lentils, a nice restaurant with the concept that everybody pays as much as he can. So you can eat for free, pay enough to cover your meal, pay enough to cover your meal and some for the next. Even when you pay more than your meal costs it is still cheaper than in the most other places. It is sometimes in buffet mode and sometimes from card. Always delicious and packed. :D
Das ist Lentils, ein schönes Restaurant mit dem Konzept das jeder soviel bezahlt wie er kann. So kannst du kostenlos essen, soviel bezahlen, dass dein Essen gedeckt ist, oder für den nächste mit bezahlen. Auch wenn man ein wenig mehr bezahlt, als das eigene Essen kostet ist es immer noch günstiger als in den meisten anderen Läden. Manchmal gibt es ein Buffet, manchmal Essen von der Karte. Es ist immer lecker und immer voll!
A view days ago I passed the 500 day mark. It feels sometimes a bit surreal and you think "what am I doing here?!" and the relation to home is almost gone....
Than you plan your next steps, next destinations and how to get there and you know again that you are on the greatest trip in your life! :D

Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich die 500 Tages-Marke passiert. Es fühlt sich manchmal ein bisschen unwirklich an und man denkt sich "was mache ich eigentlich hier?!". Der Bezug nachhause ist manchmal kaum noch da...
Dann planst du die nächsten Schritte, die nächsten Ziele und wie du sie erreichst und alles ergibt wieder einen Sinn. Du weisst wieder, dass du auf dem größten Tripp deines Lebens bist! :D
Das wars hier fürs erste. Im nächsten Post werde ich euch ein wenig über das Leben in Melbourne berichten, meinen Job bei Deliveroo und wie es so läuft hier in Down Under.... Danke für Eure Aufmerksamkeit. :)
PS: A last information that I have to give you - IT IS BACK! After half a year I finally have my bicycle back. As I am in a good mode today I only want to say - A looot of hours going through pain and 1200Euro later I finally have it back!!! Taadaaaa :)
PS: Eine letzte Information die ich Euch nicht vorenthalten möchte - ES IST ZURÜCK!!! Ich habe mien Fahrrad wieder! Da ich gerade in guter Laune bin erspare ich uns allen den ausführlichen Bericht darüber und sage nur: Nach vielen Stunden im Tal der Tränen und 1200 Euro später habe ich mein Fahrrad wieder zurück!!! Taadaaaaa :)
